Bacchus is Named Second Best Wine Bar in Orange County!
The owners pride themselves on having a wine bar that is a bit bigger and more lounge-like than the average wine-tasting spot, store director Nick Greenwood said, and that includes live entertainment several days a week.
Patrons can enjoy food in addition to their wines. "We go beyond your cheese-and-meat plate," Greenwood said. Much of that food comes from four businesses in the same plaza with Bacchus.
Claim to fame: Open since 2005, there are nearly 50 wines served by the glass, thanks to modern equipment called an "enomatic." The system, which stretches the entire length of the bar, pressurizes the bottles with argon – keeping out oxygen that would destroy the wine – and allows for a simple, draft pour.
Fan Favorite: "Tons of good upper-end wines and local entertainment, which adds to the fun atmosphere," – Maureen Zehntner, Irvine.
Fun fact: "We have a temperature-controlled cellar that holds some very rare bottles going upwards (to) $2,000 bottles," Greenwood said. "People collect them as art and talking pieces."
